The New Year

At church today, we celebrated Communion, an excellent way to start off a new year. For the text, Brother Mark selected Exodus 12:1-14...which, of course, is the passage about the first Passover in Egypt. I never realized that this event came to mark the new year in Israel's past... Shows that you can always learn something, even from a Book you've read over and over. :D. I was joined at church by my friend, Courtney Morris.

Anyway, after church, I went to Grandma Carolyn's house and did the whole New Year's shtick....black-eyed peas, greens, cornbread, and hog jowls.

Looking back over 2011, I can see plenty of missed opportunities, and lots of lost time. This year, I need to buckle down, get things under control, and power through the debris into God's plan for me.

Goals for 2012:

  1.  Nail down my money. It has a nasty habit of slipping through the cracks. The lack of a girlfriend should help with this.
  2. Get fit. I have ordered the Insanity workout, and plan on powering through it. I am in the prime of my life, but not in the best shape. I will abstain from sodas, except in the most extreme cases. I will run every Sunday and Monday, as well as another day yet to be determined. I will quit some bad habits, and pick up good ones.
  3. Read the Bible every day. I already do this fairly well, but I need to make an extra effort to learn more.
  4. Learn something new every day. I'll probably put a run-down in my blog every week.
  5. Tithe. I have gotten away from this, and have suffered spiritually for it.
  6. Move. I'm too old to live with my parents.
  7. Find God's purpose for my life. I have spent too long wandering in the dark. Like Jacob, I will not let go of the Angel of the Lord until He blesses me.
